Pathways to Success
OPP® offers a relationship-centered approach to helping youth and young adults access and attain the educational, employment, and personal skills that lead to success. Our focus is to develop an individualized plan based on a youth's aspirations to map a realistic path to achieving their goals; and provide a caring adult in their lives who can advise them along their journey. Youth meet regularly with their Youth Development Specialist (YDS), a life coach who actively engages them in goal planning and provides them with practical guidance and motivation to persist towards higher goals.
A relationship-centered approach to helping youth and young adults
OPP has high expectations for the youth we serve. Our goals are to help youth to get a college degree or post-secondary vocational credentials and/or to obtain long-term gainful employment. OPP rigorously tracks and measures its performance by our youth’s achievements and progress towards the long term and intermediate achievements that mark a successful transition to adulthood. Our youth development service provides the platform for pathways to success.
- Every youth is matched with a youth development specialist.
- Youth development specialists assess youth status and needs, and work with each youth to determine a pathway to a long-term educational and/or employment outcome.
- All youth participants have access to educational, training/employment, and support services.
- Each youth engages in a unique mix of programming based on their needs and goals.
- OPP actively engages its referral partners to help youth overcome barriers not directly addressed by OPP programming.
